4This TV is one of the best
By Corey Fisher
I bought this TV from Amazon and received it the next day via UPS. I hooked it up and it works flawlessly. The set-up is amazingly simple, the TV is very easy to set up and put together. Everything is explained in detail and gives video demonstrations. I went ahead and calibrated the TV using a calibration DVD and the TV offers some of the most superb and realistic picture quality I have seen yet. The 3D is also much improved and it's nice they threw in 4 pairs of glases with it. I have found that if you follow the directions that they show you very clearly in the demonstrations and follow the process, the TV responds very accurately and very well. The motion controls are probably the only thing that needs a very little amount of work, but I mean, compared to a Kinect, it basically works the same way and is not more or less accurate then the Kinect, either. The TV's black levels are the best I have seen for an LED set, coming close to the best of Plaasma's, motion rate is extremely enhanced and 3D performance has no visible crosstalk or juttering as in old sets. All in all, this is the best performing and high-est tech TV set available. It's also extremely fast with the dual core processing, everything you do is a snap. Apps load very quickly, internet is decent and the TV responds well. I have not had any issues from a weeks use of the TV. It has worked flawlessly.***UPDATE*** after further testing I have found one flaw. The media hub works well, however, Netflix has an issue. It will only work half the time. Half the time it will not load a video and the TV will reset, the other half it works fine. I haven't lost any settings yet, however, it is annoying. I have reduced to 4 stars sInce it isn't the end of the world and will likely be fixed with a simple software update. I watch a lot of Netflix, so Samsung, I know you will read these first reviews. This software bug with Netflix needs to get fixed. I am an advanced tech lead for Sprint, I've already tried everything to T/S the issue and other people reviews state the same. However, my TV has not had its settings reset like others. This is my only small complaint, everything else works fine.***UPDATE #2*** There was some kind of update to the TV last night and the resetting seams to have stopped during Netflix and seams a bit more responsive, for now, but still not a guarantee that it's fixed. I'm not sure what kind of update it was because the damn TV is so fast, I didn't see it long enough before it was done. I'm pretty sure I will need to wait and test it more. However, it seams to have stopped. The other thing I have noticed is that the LED lights at the bottom of the screen in the middle seam brighter then the rest of the lights, but this is only noticeable in pure 100% darkness, which you'll see anyways, because it's still and LCD anyway you look at it. I have also purchased a PN51E8000 TV for downstairs, it appears that the PN51E8000 has much darker blacks in pure darkness, in fact, it's not far off from an OLED, however, I'll post a review of that one later.***UPDATE #3*** it appears that the reset issue with Netflix only appears when the smart hub has issues connecting with Samsung. I have noticed that on weekdays, it works fairly well and can connect to apps just fine. However, on weekends, it appears Samsungs servers can't currently handle the traffic as I seam to get "network interference" issues and most apps won't connect, even though my connection to the Internet is fine at 25mbps+ and when the apps are having difficulty and you try to get on Netflix, it has trouble playing videos and gets stuck and then resets. Other then these few small issues I have had with the TV and the connection to Samsungs media hub, I continue to be blown away by the stellar 3D, the ridiculous crispness of the picture and the smooth motion rate and I have gotten use to the voice commands. I was originally having problems with it recognizing my voice, but after turning down our fan in our room, it seams to recognize my voice very well now. So Samsung, hear me out... The network interference problems have to get resolved and Netflix needs to be updated so it simply rebuffed instead of turning off the TV. If this happens, I'll be a happy camper.***UPDATE #4*** alright Samsung techs, here's one for ya and even though this doesn't actually reflect my review of the TV itself, im not sure where the problem lays. I have an iPad as well as two iPhone 4s's, all running iOS 5.1. The iPhones work great with the remote control, they always find the tv and connect and work well. However, the iPad 2 Samsung remote does not work. It will work right when you connect and allow it, but as soon as you don't use it for awhile, it stops working and never reconnects, it gets an "unknown network error" and disconnects. I was so fixated on getting it fixed that I even hard reset my iPad 2 and reinstalled the app and it still does it. The only way I am able to use it is if I go into the TV settings to network all share and delete the iPad from the allowed list and re-add it, until it stops working again after I don't use it for awhile. Samsung, it is an absolute necessity that this is fixed ASAP!! I use my iPad to browse the net while I watch tv and having the Samsung remote on it to control the Tav is essential. I am a total multi tasker! Gosh I hope they read my post.***UPDATE #5*** the Netflix app has no reset now in almost two weeks and we watch Netflix almost on a daily basis... It has work flawlessly. The set seems to be performing much better after a few weeks break-in (normal). I think this a great set, but Samsung still needs to update the iPad remote app so it can actually work. I think this TV and PN51e8000 will be our last TVs for a few years until OLED TVs become mainstream in 2014-2015. Manufacturers say they will have mainstream 55inch sets for around $2k. Until then I might actually look into the evolution kits that will come out to upgrade its features, if they are a good price, I might pick one up. If not, then these will do until OLEDs are it.***UPDATE 6*** April 22nd, I have received another update and have had 0 problems with set since. I guess that fact it needed to break in held true. The TV has worked flawlessly, I can't imagine getting much better until OLED hits mainstream. The picture quality has increased as well with the update. The voice recognition now works a lot better, but if you have fans or kids or noise in general, it still has a hard time unless dead silent, but that would be expected. This is my final update.

5believe the hype
By Eugene Yoon
I just received my TV, set it up and tested it out. First of all, installation was a breeze, camera and mic work beautifully as do the motion controls.More importantly, the image is perfect. I don't know what these other reviewers are going on about but screen uniformity is phenomenal and on par with any of the other LED LCD tvs I've seen. Blacks are deep and inky and with the backlighting on the factory default, I saw no evidence of flashlighting or light creep.3D works like a charm. Set the PS3 to recognize the new screen and the new 3D glasses pair with the TV quickly and easily and don't mind at all if I look away from the screen. Tested out Transformers 3D (don't laugh, I have 6 year old son and he loves them) and the image was crisp, detailed with very little artifacting or crosstalk. I fired up wipeout HD 3D and that performed beautifully as well. For me, it was between this TV and the new Panasonic line up. While I agree that the plasmas handle blacks better than LCD screens, I prefered the image crispness of an LED LCD panel. I am not disappointed and more than happy with the es8000.

15 Stars Revised to 1 (60 inch screen review)
By Mack
This TV is absolutely incredible. I got the 60 inch and bought direct from Samsung's website as I had a discount. I love the design of the actual TV, it's base is sharp looking and the TV and bezel are so thin it's going to look amazing mounted on my stone wall. The resolution and black levels are amazing. When I first saw the motion control demonstrated at Fry's when they first got them in, it looked completely unresponsive, but after getting mine, I now know why that was. The room has to be bright. They were demonstrating it in a very dim room. It doesn't see your hand movement completely if it's dark. It is totally responsive and much more fluid than I originally thought. Honestly speaking it's REALLY cool, but I doubt I'll end up using it that much, maybe for my fantasy football app during football season or when I can't find the remote and I want to turn the volume up. I bet Samsung will create a wider range of uses for the motion control through updates later on. So I feel like there is more to come from the motion control as well as the voice control. The voice control works really well. There isn't a huge list of commands, only ones on the screen, but it's neat and very impressive to people to speak to your TV, definitely peaking on the wow factor. Like I said, there aren't a ton of voice commands, but I feel this is a good base for expansion by Samsung updates. The amount of apps is plentiful and I love the fact that Samsung has introduced the Evolution Kits. What a great idea. Just a simple software upgrade instead of selling a TV when something new comes out.Now for my only negative thus far into my purchase. I rented The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo on bluray to test how good the quality of the TV really is. It's phenomenal. HOWEVER, once the screen went to black as the credits rolled you DO see spotlighting from the corners. It's weird because you don't see it when you're on non-HD channels and they black bar the left and right sides. In fact the ONLY time I've seen the spotlighting is during the credits of the movie. You don't see it in dark scenes or when the movie in letterbox format. If someone can explain why I only saw it during movie credits and not when in letterbox, that would be great. I know this TV is edgelit not backlit, so the pixels aren't turned off.All in all it's a tiny complaint for such an awesome TV that is packed with features no other TV has right now. How often are you watching just a black screen? Never. So seeing spotlighting during credits I really could careless, but for those who are completely obsessive may find it annoying. I am not going to knock down such an awesome TV a star over something like that. When you put this thing on your mantle, wall, or TV stand your jaw is going to drop at how sweet it looks even when it's off. Then you say "Hi TV - Power On" and wave your hand at the screen and it just gets even cooler.**UPDATE** 4/14/12Voice recognition actually has a lot more capabilities than I originally thought. When creating a Samsung account instead of remote control analog typing which can be tedious or the motion control which hurts you arm keeping it up for awhile typing out a long email, you can just say your full email address into the controller and it will get it pretty damn close. You can also say your name and all that and it did it no problem. My name is Chris, so it's not that complicated, but my last name has 2 Ts in a row and it got that somehow instead of just hearing one. Impressive. What is stupid is that you can't use the voice for entering in a URL or stuff like that. Why did they take away the QWERTY remote? Stupid. Also, to keep from having to manually log in, you can take screen shot of your face and it will log you in and all your PERSONAL setting from reading your face. That is super cool if you have people who like different settings.Exploring the app store more, there is not a whole lot there, but I expect it to grow since this TV just came out a couple weeks ago. What I am REALLY hoping for is that they bring back the Yahoo apps. The immediate predecessor TVs had Yahoo apps and this one doesn't. A big thing for me was having Yahoo Fantasy Football on screen live updating while I'm watching games. I really don't understand why they dumped Yahoo or why the app store is so scant right now. They have dozens and dozens of kid friendly apps that probably make great use of the motion control, but how does that help me with no kids. I don't care about the Kids section or Family Story. Give me my Fantasy football app. I'm not kidding, they have like 4 sports apps and 25 kids apps. COME ON SAMSUNG!! Please expand on that soon. I am still trying to figure out how to rearrange the Smart Hub, it's unclear. I'll have to check the manual I guess.I absolutely LOVE the AllShare Play. I just plug my external hard drive with downloaded movies into one of the USB inputs in the back and I got a full movie player and organizer. You can operate everything from the remote. It plays all the formats I've tested so far. Some had the volume kind of low, but if you choose the AUTO VOLUME setting it will automatically correct a volume issue.Lastly, the amount of storage space on the TV is 785mb, but I've downloaded ZERO of anything and 407mb of that space are already used. I don't even feel like THAT many apps are downloaded already. You got Facebook, VUDU, Hulu, Netflix, MLB.TV, Pandora, Youtube, MTV Music Meter, NBA Gametime, Fitness VOD and CinemaNow. That's it. Then you have the Fitness, Kids, and Family Story programs which I think is what sucks a lot of that space away. Most of the apps are 5mb and below so I guess you can still download a lot of them, but I don't know what else I may be able to download as I explore more and 785mb seems skimpy.**UPDATE** 4/15/12AND..... I got a faint vertical yellow line of pixels (very thin) across the left quarter panel of the screen. Top to bottom. At first I thought it was an entire line of dead pixels, but I turned the TV off then back on and the line was gone. Few minutes later it's back again. It goes away then it comes back. It comes back EVERY time whenever I click on the Smart Hub. Also, there is so very faint gray lines across the whole screen that you can see during light scenes. In some parts, it looks like a 3D rectangular boxing. I though it may be some interference, but it's on all channels now and it wasn't there before. It only appeared at the same time as the faint yellow line.Contrary to some other reviews knocking on Samsung's service, I called 1-800-SAMSUNG and was speaking to a live person after 2-3 button pushes. They are having a service person come out to fix it. If he can't fix it then they will exchange or refund my money they say. The entire service call was 22 minutes and that included describing what was wrong to 2 people and being on hold for 2 minutes. So as of right now, their customer service has been great. However, we'll see how the repair goes. They say I will get a call tomorrow from them to set an appointment.I changed the review from 5 stars to 2 for right now because I was SOOO careful getting this out of the box and putting it on the TV stand. I don't know if the TV is super fragile because it's so thin, but I treated it like it was regardless. Maybe it got bumped around during shipping, but there was zero box damage and it worked fine for 5 days before the line appeared. I think it was just a quality control issue. Two stars, because this thin little line coming and going is super annoying. Screen is everything. I am very tempted to give it 1 star because it's been 5 days. But if they can fix it, and it never comes back and I never have an issue again, I'll raise the review up again. I think I am the only 60 inch screen review, so watch out.**UPDATE** 4/23/12Repair company contracted by Samsung came out last Tuesday (a day after scheduling, great response time) to diagnose problem. He typed some code on the remote to do a color test. I asked how he did that, but he said it's strongly advised you don't do the color screen test yourself because you can damage your screen. Anyways, the color test makes the whole screen go red, blue, green, white, black, or a pattern of colors. When he did this we saw that on blue, all the pixels were dead in the line top to bottom, as well as little speckles of dead ones around it. It was weird because on every other color the pixels worked, so maybe just the blue pixels were dead? Maybe this is why the line looked yellow when just watching tv. This line is so weird because it goes away sometimes. Even when it's there it's barely noticeable unless it's pointed out to you or it's a very light colored or bluish scene. The repair guy said that the screen is ruined and it needs to be replaced. I was like wtf do you mean, the screen IS the TV, it's like an inch thick. I don't fault him because he's not even a Samsung employee, he's contracted by them. This was weird. He said it's Samsung's policy to allow 10 days for a part to come in, if it doesn't come in within 10 days they exchange the TV for a new one. The repair guy said because the 60" TV is SO new (it was the first one he'd seen) and that it was on backorder he said it was slim to none they'd get a new replacement screen in 10 days. He told me to call Samsung and tell them I don't have 10 days to waste when it's ultimately going to be the same result. When I spoke to Samsung on the phone, they didn't know what that "10 days" was about, but they confirmed that they have no replacement screens in stock for replacement. They are sending me a new TV and will take the old one. They said it will take 10-12 days. I don't know why people bitch about their customer service. I saw it as being great. I understand they have a process of trying to repair before they just jump into replacing. There are a lot of idiots who can't differentiate normal from defective. The issue with the TV isn't unbearable to see, so I've been fine waiting. Although this has given me more time to see some things. The fact that the TV doesn't have a keyboard is completely annoying. You will no doubt want a keyboard if you are going to websurf or do anything where you frequently input text. They sell one separately. The voice thing is very good, but not always completely accurate. When you go to Smart Hub right now it says they are updating their system on 4/24/12 from midnight to 5am and the service won't be available during that time, so maybe their ironing out some kinks. I've also noticed the spotlighting is a little more frequent than originally thought. Whenever the screen is black and their is white on the screen with no letterbox, you will see spotlighting. I'll revise my review if my new TV is perfect.**UPDATE** (5/12/12)So my order for replacement was processed and I was called today and they now said there are no 60 inches for replacement and they have to give me a refund. Fine. I just want to move on. I like the look of the TV and some cool features, but I was scared my new one was going to be shoddy as well after several warnings from other users. I got IRATE because the guy said my SALES TAX wouldn't be refunded in addition to my $60 shipping since I purchased straight from Samsung's employee website which is the manufacturer and not a retailer. If there is NO SALE, THERE IS NO TAX no matter who the hell you are. I hung up with him and called Executive Customer Service and got her to give me my sales tax, but I lost my $60 shipping. 12-17 business days for my refund after picking up the TV. So through all of this I got NO TV and LOST $60. Hence another revising of my review from 2 stars to 1 star. Samsung just does not have their crap together with their TVs lately and BELIEVE ME I REALLY WANTED TO LIKE THIS TV. I learned a valuable lesson.Last bit about the TV before I'm done. You will be sitting in your room, push no buttons, just watching and the voice control menu or motion control will come up (unprompted) and turn down the volume on your TV till it goes away or you pick up the remote and close it. It's like a glitch or something. Annoying. I am telling everyone out there, this is straight up honest review. I am not a Samsung hater. I've owned several Samsung TVs in the past. I picked Samsung because I felt it had the best picture and they are a reputable manufacturer. I gave it 5 stars in the beginning! Then 5 days later, it messed up and now I have no TV and $60 less. I was PUNISHED for buying this TV. Don't let it happen to you.

5A truly Great Value buy!
By HPvet
This is our fourth HD big screen. We have a Panny 37" circa 2005 and two new 2010 Sony 46" Bravia w motion control. We picked up this set for a second home in Florida.Pros: Excellent picture at 480, 720, 1080 w Comcast. Lots of brightness in a sunny room. Although it has a gloss screen, reflections don't seem to be the problem I was expecting. Very thin profile. Simple menus and sets up easy. Three HDMI inputs are a plus. Swivel is nice. TV allows viewing from very steep side angles, best of all our sets. The blacks are VERY black, also the best of all our sets. The price is AMAZING at Costco! Audio is great for me at 10 feet and I have hearing issues.Cons: Haven't found any yet although I have not used it for on line games, a game box, bluray or SD card. My standard DVD movie looked great.I am sitting here watching college football in HD. There are no compression problems. The ball spirals are perfect and the receiver routes in slow mo and full speed are clear wo rasterization problems. My 2005 Panny stinks at this so I do know what really bad technology and pictures are like.CATS is the auto brightness control that you can set in the picture menu. It works great if you adjust the brightness and color settings in a darker room first. Then during brighter daytime settings the picture will be great. The other way will leave you disappointed or frustrated but there is no need to turn CATS off.Another nice feature is the auto selection of the picture mode and screen fill. Works great for us. If there was a way to grade this a five star ++, we would. A great value buy!!

5Best Picture I Have Seen to Date
By Jay D. Anderson
The television is going anywhere from $1900 to $700 depending on where you shop. I bought it for my son for mostly movies, television (Football), and XBOX gaming (Madden Football).I saw it in the store (Costco-$699) along side all the other LCD screens and though the picture is glossy it stood out from the masses of LG, Samsung, Sony, etc. I also couldn't see the pixels in the screen and there was far less distortion around things like printed characters in commercials (the diagonal line blurring/edge-effect I see on regular LCDs). First thing I noticed was that the blacks seemed truly black and so apparently much more dynamic range (range between darkest black to whitest whites). The set is an LCD panel (liquid crystal display) like what everyone else is using but instead of having the usual back light (that provides light through the LCD to light it up) the set uses LEDs (light emitting diodes) and this technology is a real energy saver (74W compared to my other 42" plasma at 250W) and this allows the panel to be just 1.5" thick. There isn't one LED unit for each pixel as I had first thought... rather the set uses diffusing light guide panel between the LEDs and the front LCD panel. The specs say this set can achieve a contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1. This is truly amazing... I did a "double take" on that spec... never seen that before. Since most LCD screens use translucent panels to diffuse the light and this one has the diffusing panel on the back of the LCD the screen can be clear. I think that is best and as long as you don't have lighting in the room with reflections that can be seen by you in the television's screen you will see what I mean. It means that in a night scene you will be able to see more detail as the blacks will be truer blacks (not grays which wash out the picture detail). The set also uses something called an "Intelligent Scene Controller" which is nothing more than an image processor (a CPU) that makes futher enhancements by manipulating the brightness of the blacklighting and image contrast depending on the nature of the scene being shown. I think the way this works is that when it is is low light scene (a night scene) the backlighting is automagically reduced and the contrast is increased for that short time frame. This would result in the set being able to show more shades of gray (gray being all graduations between pure black and pure white).Viewing Angle: This issue always bothers me... my brother's DLP television is the pits... got to look at the screen head on or you see vignetting (darkening) in corners, etc. The viewing angle on this set is fandamtastic! I think due to the "In Pane Switching" (IPS) they are doing on the LCD which was design to improve viewing angle. Viewing angle is 178 degrees! Another "double take".... theoritical perfection in my mind. Remember 180 degrees is "flat"... like trying to read a sheet of paper from its edge! I don't think it is possible to get better than that! IPS changes the direction that the liquid crystal molecules move so that they move parallel with the path of light through the panel instead of against it. This reduces light scatter and allows better light transmittance (more light through the panel and so better contrast) and more accurate color. The technology was previously reserved for high end monitors for professional graphic artists (with deep pockets) and the like... now apparently economically feasible for the rest of us. Set has 3 HDMI inputs (better than component video) and you can hook anything up to it.Note on Refresh Rate: I got to admit I got fooled on this one... the set is advertised as having a 120Hz refresh rate. This is actually a specification "trick" to get you to buy this set thinking that you are getting 120 frames of video per second (FPS) instead of the usual 60 FPS (for smoother video... less judder for gaming or fast motion sports, etc). I may keep the set anyway... it is very nice and the price is right. My understanding is that Xbox and many gaming systems don't go anywhere near 60 FPS anyway (FPS and Hz are basically the same thing in this case). More like 20-30 FPS and some "motion blurring" in the software to give you the illusion that you are seeing much faster movements. I lose on the sports stuff though... this is a 60 Hz set that is advertized as 120 Hz...If you are interested in knowing how this is... read carefully (and repeatedly if necessary):The system has an LCD screen with a response rate capable of handling 120Hz (120 FPS) as it is likely 8ms (or faster). This allows TV to hold the just shown video frame in a buffer and show it a second time--hence 120 FPS or 120Hz (same thing). There is an advanced setting to set the television to the faster frame rate. But are you seeing new frames? Nope. You are seeing copies of old ones. You are, in fact, seeing the same frame twice and "technically speaking" you are seeing 120Hz (120 FPS). But this is a cheap markting gimmic to seduce those 'savvy consumers' (like I thought I was) bent on buying a true 120Hz television. However, a TRUE 120Hz set can take a 120Hz input signal (120 FPS input signal) and display all 120 different frames in 1 second. This set cannot do that.If you believe me... that is good. If you are still a skeptic I will prove my point below -- Read on:To illustrate the concept... remember those little flip books you could page through fast and see something akin to a moving picture? Each page was differnt and had an incremental progression in movement but seen one behind the other and fast they appear to be a moving image (though generally fairly "choppy animation)? That is taking advangage of "persistance" of image feature in the human visual system. Now imagine the pages of this little moving picture book had 60 pages and you showed them all in one second. The image is pretty smooth for most things except very fast moving things like maybe a "Hockey Puck" or a "Football" -- that is regular televison (at 60 FPS.) It is actually quite an advancement over motion pictures that used to show 24 FPS! Now say you have 120 pages (all differnt) of the same movement and showed them in the same second. If the frames were indeed all different they would show even smaller incremental changes between frames and so the motion in the movie will seem much smoother... and even smoother at 240 FPS... or 480... and so on... etc. The human visual system sees "retinal fusion" at about 60 FPS (but differs between individuals)... probably 100 FPS (100 Hz is a good number to shoot for to cover everyone). In this TV the flip book of 60 pages (60 frames) now has a duplicate copy of each page put into it next to the origial pages now making it now 120 pages... but there are still only 60 unique frames... flip through this 120 page version or the 60 and you see the same juddery animation... no change. What does this mean to you? There are still benefits in having a 120Hz "Interpolated" or "faked" system such as this as the LCD portion of the screen is capable at 8ms it will be smoother by nature and inserted buffered pages can make the 24 FPS movies (in video format) play smoothly with no noticable "flicker" (as old movies often did). It does mean that for sports or gaming you will still be seeing the same ol' 60 FPS (though each frame displayed twice). So when the player throws a football fast or other fast movements you won't be seeing them in as many frame changes and so incremental changes between frames will be greater and the image motion will be NO SMOOTHER THAN BEFORE. Also, since the new 3D (using shutter glasses) require a minium of a TRUE 120Hz you won't be able to use this set for that either. 3D shutter technology darkens the L/R eye alternating at the same refresh rate as the display and so the left eye sees the "left eye view" and the right eye sees the "right eye view" as this also alternates at that refresh rate on the screen... so a TRUE 120Hz is the bottom limit because that allows 60FPS for each eye. True 120Hz sets are likely twice the bucks of this one.In fact, Panasonic sets that are true 120Hz (or better) are sold with the "3D FULL HD" logo and right now all of Panasonic's 3D compatible sets are Plasma sets... not LED-LCD or LCD.Anyway... a bit of a gimmic in my mind because it allows the maker to "legally" advertize a 120Hz system when you are really only getting the same 60 frames each second (although each frame shown twice). That may be legal but it is definitely unethical as the spirit and intent of the specification is that you can see 120 distinctly different frames per second. I think a number of manufacturers are doing this and hiding behind this obfuscation to sell sets that really are not 120Hz to unknowing consumers. I hope I have helped to make you a "knowing consumer."

4Blacks Are Not As Good As Plasma
By jaldeborgh
To begin with I am a Panasonic fan based on several good experiences. I have both 50" and 54" plasma sets that are brilliant. I also have several Panasonic Blu-ray players and all have been trouble free. My daughter also has a 32" LCD Panasonic (720P) with iPod connect which also works great.I bought this TV because I wanted to try an LED TV because they are very thin and are efficient. I have the TV hung on the wall in our guest bedroom - it looks great. The picture is OK but the blacks are not at good as our plasma sets which are truly inky black. Otherwise the picture is great. I am pleased with the sound given the thinness of the TV. All of the other Panasonic goodness is there - the remote is robust and easy to use. I am use to the Viera Link and other Panasonic features - although this is a very basic TV in terms of features - but that is all I wanted for this room. I have not tried the iPod connection yet - it might be fun but won't get too much use at our house. The TV is connected to an Apple TV and a Blu-ray player but not a cable box - so the only TV programming available is the unscrambled channels offered directly from the wall outlet. The QAM tuner works well and the set-up was easy.Overall I am pleased - I would give it 5 stars if the blacks were better. The TV meets all my expectations and the 'normal' Panasonic quality appears to be there as well. I will keep buying Panasonic partly because they are good enough in every category - maybe not the best in every category but they are never below average. Also, the quality is up to their usual high standards and the interface is fairly simple and consistent so my wife and daughters don't get confused when they are watching this set or the ones in the family room or master bedroom. This last point is important as my wife struggles with anything electronic - simple and consistent are very helpful.

4Impressive 3D HD TV in spite of poor Voice Control Features
By Chris from Michigan
As with any major purchase I did so much research before selecting the Samsung UN60ES7500 60-Inch 1080p 240 Hz 3D Slim LED HDTV. I looked at all the major brands including LG, Sharp, Toshiba, Panasonic, and Sony. I spent several weeks in my free time doing this, reading and comparing specifications, and checking customer reviews on sites like Amazon and Google Shopping. Where available for each model I looked at I read CNET and Home Theater site reviews as well.Based on the available technologies I had to decide between Plasma and LED for starters, and then Active or Passive 3D. From my research online I discovered there were proponents in each camp, and finally I reached critical mass and realized without some hands on comparison I would never be able to decide. My older son and I went down to the local Best Buy and basically tried all the brands mentioned above and both active and passive 3D technologies. The Samsung UN60ES7500 immediately blew away the biggest myth I had read of with Active 3D and that's not having enough of a viewing angle when move away from the center of the screen. In 2D and 3D TV we could see the picture fine when being on so much of angle where you wouldn't be able to see the front of the TV!The TV picture for both 2D and 3D is FABULOUS! Totally blows away, as I would expect, my 5 year old 50" Panasonic plasma, and my 2 year old LG 22" LED TV. I could not be more pleased! On the rare occasions I use the pass-through mode of my AV receiver, the sound quality if the TV speakers is decent; certainly far better than the two aforementioned TVs.Of course while doing my research I came across complaints for this line of TVs from Samsung, such as you could not use a mouse or keyboard with it, but under mine int he setup mode are setting for a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard. I'll have to try that on a later date and update this report. I also read complaints of different color lines down the display, light bleeding around the edges, and other issues, but as I said previously the picture on this unit is amazing!More than a few of the reviews I had read mentioned the Samsung line my TV was a part of were turning themselves off for no reason. I'm theorizing this might have been because they had automatic power setting set to do this, or perhaps the voice command feature misinterpreted some TV dialog as a command to turn off the set. One reviewer mentioned when they removed theirs from the network this issue stopped, mine has been on my home network since the day it arrived, with no issues. The wireless network setup was quick and easy in fact and I've had no network related issues on either of my home wireless networks, both of which use different security settings.Speaking of Voice Commands, this is one of Samsung's 'Smart TVs', meaning you can use a set of predefined commands and hand gestures to control it.It should be noted I did NOT buy the set for these features, which is good because they are, in my humble opinion, not ready for prime time. Trying to get the TV to recognize, even with the TV muted, voice commands is a hit or miss proposition. It either does not recognize the initial command phrase, or it can easily misinterpret commands. How it thinks "TV Power Off"is the command for "Current Time" is beyond me. The hand gesturing also needs work. Trying to get the on screen menu to come up when holding using the waving gesture it expects, even after going through the setup calibration, rarely works, but get a bit tired and raise your hands while stretching, and Bam! it appears!Hopefully subsequent firmware upgrades will improve this, but if you main reason for getting a Smart TV is for these features, you will be sorely disappointed. The TV comes with a number of pre-loaded applications, such as a Netflix library and there is an application store you can choose more from. There are both free and paid apps. As the TV has a built in camera, there is also a Skype application. This is also a decent web browser; with a wireless keyboard and mouse this would be a very easy way to surf the web, check your email, etc.So, in closing, if you're looking for a TV based on being able to dump your remote and use hand gesturing and voice commands to control it, this is NOT the TV for you. You'll be very disappointed in the poor implementation of these features based on today's firmware. If on the other hand you're looking for a large screen, network connected 3D HD TV with a fantastic picture, a boatload of applications, and a plethora of other features this is an ideal purchase.Because of the poor implementation of the Voice Command and Gesturing features, I'd give this TV four out of five stars.Updated 6/8/2012Now that I've had this TV for just over a month I thought a brief update was in order. I've seen no issues that other people had reported such as the power going off, lines down the screen, dead pixels, etc. From a display standpoint for regular and 3D material this unit is fantastic and I am still blown away by the picture. It responds well to action scenes for TV and Movies, and for video games as well from my Xbox 360 and Home Theater PC.As to the Smart TV functions such as voice control and gestures, they still really stink but can be downright amusing at times! Try to get the gesture control to 'see' you and no luck.. Yawn or stretch a bit and there it is! What I really find funny is dialog on the TV will often pop up the dialog for voice control and it will think I want to turn off the TV.But again, I must stress did not buy the TV for that functionality. If these features worked well it would certainly be a plus, but since they do not my original rating of 4 out of 5 stars stands.Updated - 11/12/2012It's been just over six months now and I figured I'd add a quick update. With the Smart Features (Voice and hand gesturing) turned off the TV is perfect! I've not had any trouble at all with this unit in six months and the picture remains fantastic.

5This TV has it all and looks stunning
By J. Wilson
I love this product!!! Samsung has slammed it totally out of the park with the ES7500.... I think the picture quality is stellar, I don't see any of the bleeding/cloudyness etc that I hear people complain about. I did need to tweak the judder and blur reduction settings so movies didn't lose their depth of field, but overall this TV is amazing... I would highly recommend this to anyone! When I was at the store I looked at the ES8000 also, but honestly I couldn't see a difference in PQ... I guess the 8000 has micro uber dimming or something, but to me the 7500 has it all anyways, so I'm stoked....Voice control is awesome, touch remote takes some getting used to, but is very cool, and the TV is sooo sexy... I'll try to take a picture or two and upload them for others to see...Only bad note, the gesture control doesn't really work (but I didn't care about that feature)....oh that the whole thing with Amazon VOD still stinks, but hey I think this is the best TV you can buy for under $3000....3/23 Update.... I've added a photo for you to see... Its not the best, but I can you that unless you have the brightness blown out on the screen, there is no bleeding from the corners, which is the complaint I read about all the time.... maybe other folks like it brighter than me, but whatever, its an awesome screen!3/25 Update.... Watched Tron 3d (or part of it).... WOW!!! The 3D on the Tv is as good or better than cinema 3d.... I only watched 20 minutes or so, but I did not feel eye strain setting in... in fact over time it felt like I was just watching my tv normally, like the 3d was supposed to be there all the time. On a sad note, I had to turn off the voice control, because the tv was taking commands from its own programming... :) it almost turned itself off while I was watching Amazing Race for some reason.... got all the way to the final "OK" before I scrambled for the remote and canceled.... maybe that needs some work still...but the picture quality is shockingly good.

3Great Picture, but...
By VanDoos
I've had the TV for a month now and I can't get over how great the picture quality is, both in 3D and 2D. Gesture control and Voice Control takes some time to get used to...it's not as sensitive as the Wii or like-devices. Other than the bells and whistles that you're basically paying for, there is one major drawback that I'm having a heck of a time fixing/figuring out (because Samsung customer support is convinced it's user-error; which it could very well be...but as a warning to others please read on): major networking issues.I have it hooked up to my home network and all seems great in terms of playing vides/music/pictures via router, however, the TV's firmware wants to constantly update and stay connected, thus it automatically shuts off randomly and turns back on; no matter what input you have the TV on. A major annoyance. I unhooked it from my home network and all is fine now, just sucks that I can't enjoy one of the major reasons why I bought the TV. So be warned if you're buying this TV for not just the great picture but for the versatility of using it as an extension to your home network.
